A proposal how would Tilburg's historical streets look in the future and what could be their function. School project with Hang Xu
These streets are historical streets leading into the city center.
Old days the textile fabrics were located along these streets, behind workers buildings. Farmers did use these streets to bring sheep's to the fabrics and the squares along the streets were used forpreserve the sheep's over nights.
Nowadays the streets are occupied by cars and workers housing are mainly shops.
The task was to develop the Korvelsewegen and use two plots as an example of the new look.
Proposal:
Because of the heavy car traffic pedestrians will have their own walking path on 1st floor level on the areas where the street is narrow. With this solution bikers will have more space and pedestrians will have their own walking environment separated form car traffic.
New buildings should support existing structures, but materials and shapes should tell about this time.
